Midlife Bridge - Poem

Midlife Bridge - Poem

Why a bridge? It fills in our midlife empties.
Where are you on your bridge? We all get to a point in life that we look closely at ourselves and what we have accomplished or not accomplished. Succeeded or failed at. Do we have what we thought we should by now? Are we happy with ourselves, our job or business, our family our lives overall or do we need to improve, make changes or just stop and catch our breath and start building again.

Midlife Bridge by Brenda Green

Standing in front of a bridge mid-way complete.
It overlooks water, land, people and an endless sky.
Beneath me is my solid ground, the beginning of my first step.
I built my bridge, so far; just part of the way.
The usual plans, met so far.
How much more do I want. How far does it need to reach. How far can it go?
To see the finished structure through, I need more materials and workers to contribute
to the build.
I can't go it alone.
There is some fear to overcome, there is much to learn and much to gain.
What will fail? What will succeed?
Should I add more to the details or simplify it all?
Will I have a lot of traffic treading across or will it be a bridge less traveled?
It's time to bridge the gap and finish the second half to its completion,
leaving something for the world to remember and to benefit from in the future.
Anything less...
would be an incomplete bridge.
